Gluten Free Christmas Pudding Donuts

For today's post I teamed up with my bestie, Sarah Howells from The Gluten Free Blogger, to make these beautiful Christmas pudding donuts. For an extra treat Sarah vlogged our day of cooking, I've included her video in this post so make sure you have a watch!

I've teamed up with Sarah Howells from The Gluten Free Blogger to create these beautiful Christmas inspired dairy and gluten free donuts.

These donuts are the perfect treat for any Christmas get together; as well as being gluten free, they're also dairy free!

Icing

1. For the holly decorations mix in a bowl 250g of sifted royal icing with 40ml of cold water. Once mixed together split the icing into two bowls. 
2. In one bowl add red gel food colouring and in the other add green gel food colouring. I recommend adding the gel bit by bit until you get the desired colour, you're looking for berry red and holly leaf green.
3. Once you have your desired colours, scoop each bowl of icing into it's own piping bag. Please note you need to work quick with royal icing as the longer you take the thicker it will become.
4. Snip the end of the piping bag off so you get a small flow of icing.
5. Pipe onto greaseproof paper red berries and green holly leaves. Have a look at the video below for the size we piped these decorations.
6. Leave the decorations to set hard.
7. Make a batch of standard white icing and pipe onto the donuts so it drips down the edge. See the video below for our technique.
7. Once the decorations are hard, peel them off the greaseproof paper and delicately pace onto the donuts (you'll notice in the video we had to takes ours off early so they were a bit tacky but still worked out ok).

Once your beautiful donuts are finished I recommend keeping them in the fridge and eating them on the day you've made them as sometimes the icing can soak into the donut and you lose the beautiful icing drip decoration.
