After reading Phoebe Lovatt's The Working Woman's Handbook* a few week's ago I was really inspired by her section of visualising her goals.
Visualising is a great way of reaching your goals, if you see them day in day out I find it's far easier to work towards them that having them hidden in a notebook. With this idea in mind I decided that at the beginning of each month I would create a new desktop background for my mac to remind me of the goals I have that month.
I did this half-way through October and it really worked although I gave myself far too many goals to achieve, I've since reduced my number this month. You can take a look at my November motivation image above. It took me all over 5 mins but will be there to say hello each time I open up my laptop (which is quite a lot)!
1. Craft Projects
I have a very bad habit of getting excited about new craft projects and not always completing them. I'm still working on my 3 new creative goals that I talked about in a previous post. I want to try and at least finish my crochet project so I can start my new project which will be to learn how to make these macrame key rings! If you're like me and have a thing for all things macrame, go check out my Pinterest board, there's so many beautiful ideas on there!
2. Zines Zines Zines
My bestie Emily is finally returning back to Vancouver this week and I cannot wait to see her, we're also in the process of starting our zine "M I L A" go give us a follow on Instagram! The idea of the zine is to highlight some of the amazing creative people here in Vancouver, plus it's a great little side project for us both.
Not only will I be working on M I L A I've also got another zine to create and print this month for The Regional Assembly of Text's book and beer night. I'm in the process of creating my "How to calligraphy" zine. I've finally got some calligraphy equipment, I've felt a bit lost without all my gear since moving to Canada. I'll be sharing a post soon with my recommendations for calligraphy nibs, pens, ink and paper for any calligraphy newbies out there.
3. Website go go go
My last motivational image is to motivate me to get organised with my website. Having recently relaunched laurenwelland.com with a new design and platform I have lots of posts planned but need to make sure I get images shot and copy written for each post. Once I kick start this during November I'm hoping i'll get into a routine.
If you're feeling a bit stuck creatively, why not give this visualisation technique a go. You could create a screen saver on your phone, desktop or even create a collage of images to pop on your wall.
